“This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me.”
Luke 22:19
At the Last Supper, Jesus instituted both the sacraments of the Holy Eucharist and Holy Orders. The Catholic priest is ordained by a bishop whose lineage goes back to the Last Supper through apostolic succession. The Church lives the command of Jesus to "Do this in memory of Me" through the priesthood. The priest, though a frail and sinful human, is empowered by the Holy Spirit to become an instrument of God's grace through the sacramental life of the Church. He stands "in persona Christi."
Please pray for our priests, for young men to be open to God's call, and for the sanctification of all priests!
