    • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
      • The reception of Holy Communion is the highpoint of Christian life.  We receive the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ who left this parting gift to His disciples at the Last Supper.  Not content to give up His life for us, He also gives Himself to us and commanded the disciples to “Do this in memory of Me.”

Holy Family has groups of Extraordinary Ministers for Holy Mass, the Sick and Homebound, and those at Methodist Hospital.

    • Sacristans
      • The Sacristan is charged with the responsibility of preparing the altar for the celebration of Holy Mass and other liturgies, caring for the sacred vessels and vestments of the parish, and attending to all other needs of the Sacristy.  A good sacristan is a gift to the parish, fulfilling an essential but hidden liturgical duty.

    • Lectors
      • The Bible announces salvation in the prophecies foretelling the Messiah and then in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.  An integral part of the Mass is the proclamation of the Word of God. Trained lectors read the Sacred Scriptures at every Mass.

    • Ushers
      • The ministry of Ushers is the oldest lay ministry in the Catholic Church.  The ushers of today have descended from a long line of people of God.  During the time of Christ, the doorkeepers of the temple numbered in the hundreds and were the forerunners of today’s ushers.  The primary duties and responsibilities of the usher are those of hospitality and service; always conscious of Christ’s words:  “I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”  They welcome and seat parishioners if necessary, direct traffic flow as needed, and take up the collection. Ushers are knowledgeable of the liturgy and in dealing with safety and emergency issues.

    • Altar Servers
      • Young men ages 10-18 are trained to serve at the altar during Mass.  With increased age and experience, they are allowed to serve in more difficult roles, such as the Master of Ceremonies.

Funeral Altar Servers are men of the parish available during the day who assist during Funeral Masses.

    • Liturgical Decorators
      • Our beautiful church building is decorated according to the rhythm of the liturgical year.  Throughout the ebb and flow of fasts and feasts, we express the spirit of the season by the way our sanctuary is adorned. Our liturgical decorators are responsible for everything from Christmas tree assembly to Easter lily placement.

In addition, those with prior experience in floral arranging may assist in creating beautiful traditional flower arrangements for feast days, solemnities, and holy days.
